Revised one poem, submitted three (one of which was revised) to Atlanta Review. Yet another self-pigeonholing -- but maybe not. Reading a piece about Aleksander Hamon's writing in two languages (in an old issue of *Poets and Writers* taken from the "not needed please take pile" at UAA this summer :)). -Olga
Just a little research and background reading for me today. Working hard to stay in a daily rhythm. I find that extra tough on weekends, when there are a million errands/extras to do.
Lots of brainstorming today and 1000 words that have to do primarily with a character I remember from my past. It was amazing how once I started listing things I remembered about this woman and where she lived, the memories and details started pouring in. Enough to make a good solid character and create a fiction around her. Yay!
A good day for working outside. Gel pens and paper. Started a new research notebook. Danced around revision -- a stack of pages next to the computer for Monday.
About an hour or so spent journaling/ poem drafting/ thinking about writing while staring at the river in the middle of a nice fall bike ride that also included eagles and a moose family.

ReplyDeleteNice. I always view 1000 words as a victory over the terrible burden that is writing.
DeleteTen minutes. Satisfying, though. I had been avoiding it. -Darla
