DAY 10

8 comments:

  1. Have journal, will travel. I like the challenge of writing en route. It's always inspiring to spend time with my daughter, Kate -- fellow explorer, writer, and friend. Power cord plugged in, I transcribe revision notes and ideas gleaned from the highway.

  2. Not so much writing today, aside from journaling a page or so. I think the morning visit to the dentist and all its surrounding anxiety drained me. Did spend some time going through recent comments from my mentor though. And pulled out of the reading thing I was supposed to do tonight because of a good friend's early return to civilization from the bush. Still, feel okay about it all, despite not really writing.

  3. 1 hour. 1000 words. Started a new story that I hope is not long because the premise and the main character are both pathetic. ** I felt startling empathy for two people I would not have thought I would today. Something in me tells me there is a story I can write every time I feel strong empathy and that is not true. Not yet. Built a second bookcase with my dad. Still need to put a finish on both of them.

  4. 4 hours revising opening of manuscript. Yee pee! My longest stretch so far, I think.

  5. One page (almost) of journaling on a "rest day" from writing wherein nothing else got done save some reading of David Stevenson's book. Load in surprise company and SpEd bowling and you've got a null day.

  6. Wrote a bit in the morning, just a few paragraphs, and had good intentions of writing more toward the end of the day, but read a bunch instead.

  7. Started with research again--always dangerous, and something I need to keep on a timer lest it take over all my available time. Forced myself to do a half hour after that, got to 200 words, found another half hour, 500 words total. So glad I'm using a Pomodoro 25-minute timer (online version)--when I remember to turn it on--because it gets me started and makes it easier to commit, only tiny chunk at a time. Been using it for over 6 months now and really helpful for editing, writing, and fighting procrastination in general, since once I hit "start" and the numbers are going down I rarely click over to websurfing again.
