Day 30: One day to go, wrap up begins tomorrow

  1. Completely ignored the novel, even though it is printed out and stacked on my desk like two inches of new snowfall. Worked on a new short story and the same three poems that have been haunting me for the past month.

  2. Wrote 45 mins first thing. Cut as much as I wrote, so wordcount not indicative.

  3. A page and a half in a journal and some much needed thesis formatting. GOOD NEWS: It's done and soon to be off to people.

    1. Congratulations! To borrow from the quote above--I've heard the the MFA is 3% Bad Choices and 97% formatting. Maybe I have that reversed. Way to go in either case!

    2. Nice job getting the formatting done. I'm jealous and will be seeking you out for help, most likely.

    3. Well done, Ben. My recollection of the formatting process was that it was like tap dancing on quicksand.

  4. 1/2 hour. 500 words. * I am ready for the next wave of work now. I can feel it coming. It is going to hit hard.

  5. Wrote for 45 minutes over my lunch break today while sitting in my parked car. It might be my new favorite place to write.

    1. There is something about a steno-type pad, flipped over a steering wheel. When I commuted via ferry in Washington, the best work often happened in the ferry line or in parking lots waiting for kids.

  6. An hour or so this morning revising poems, then some time at work later working on a response. Also a bunch of reading, and now, moon-viewing.

    1. Also also, this quote is the most relevant yet. Stupid internet.

  7. My distractions are: started a new Girls Scout Junior troop for my daughter, agreed to be her Girl Scout Service Unit Encampment Chair, holding my first vendor show this weekend as a Stampin Up! Demonstrator so I'm making a ton of cards and other paper crafts this week. Tomorrow, I will be critiquing the opening of my memoir with a writer friend though, so I'm looking forward to that!
